Flash flooding in Larimer County has caused the closure of Highway 14 in the Poudre Canyon due to mud and debris. This closure runs from Stove Prairie Road on the west to Ted's Place on the east. Roads in Rist Canyon, especially Davis Ranch Road were also affected; however, traffic is now allowed down Rist Canyon. Residents and residents only are being allowed in on Highway 14 from Ted's Place to Smith Bridge Road.
Public safety is not threatened at this time. CDOT and Colorado State Patrol are on scene and are working to clear the road. We anticipate the road will reopen soon. Debris (branches, ash/silt, mud) as deep as 12 inches in some places has been reported. Rain is subsiding in the area, but flash flooding associated with locally heavy rain will continue to be a concern throughout the weekend.
Flash flooding was also reported in the Monument Gulch area that was flowing into Fish Creek near the Pingree Park area.
