Photographer Volunteer Expectations

Program: Open Lands, Administration and Volunteer programs
Location: Larimer County Parks and Open Lands Areas
Reports to: Program Supervisor

An Experienced Photographer Volunteer donates their time to take scenic, plants and recreational shots in our Parks and Open Lands. This work is done on an "as needed" basis.

Duties vary, but can be a combination of the following:

• Be an experienced photographer - must have your own camera
• Be prepared to show samples of your work
• Receive photo assignments and review/coordinate with staff for understanding
• Take Photographs and deliver desired images in staff requested media
• Communicate promptly and effectively with County staff

• Be an experienced photographer able to compose and execute photos of outdoor scenes
• Be capable of delivering photos or negatives properly marked and in the media form requested by staff
• Learn the Parks and Open Spaces areas locations well enough to take properly oriented photos
• Friendly and courteous to staff and other volunteers
• Establish and maintain effective work relationships with County staff and other Volunteers
• Communicate effectively
• Provide own transportation
• Complete volunteer orientation and training

• Organize, direct and schedule volunteers in an efficient and timely manner
• Provide necessary equipment, supplies and supervision
• Provide feedback to volunteers
• Recognize and reward volunteers as valued team members

• Be able to start work without additional training and after an initial meeting with key staff
• Present yourself in a professional manner in behavior and dress
• Be prepared for your first assignment
• Provide excellent customer service to staff and other volunteers
• Follow through with time commitment explained at orientation
• Keep accurate record of time worked on forms provided and turn them in on a monthly basis
• Be on time (call in if can't make it on scheduled work days)
• Provide own transportation to visitor center

• Field conditions when photographing (rough terrain, snakes, etc)
• Inclement weather (lightening, rain, etc.)
• Disease, stings, or bites from insects, such as mosquitoes and spiders.
• Loss of equipment in outdoor setting
