Wildlife

This open space is a great place to see elk and mule deer throughout the four seasons.  Coyotes frequent the area, and wild turkey have been spotted along the trail.  An occassional mountain lion and bear track can be found.

Wildflowers

Looking forward to spring.

Trail Conditions

The Shoshone and Besant trails are open and in great shape.  Bring your fishing rod and enjoy some fishing along the Besant Point trail.

Raptor/Bird Sightings

Ravens, crows, red-tailed hawks, spotted towhees, yellow-breasted chats, pygmy nuthatches, downy woodpeckers, wood pewees, common mergansers, and the occasional golden eagle have been spotted along the trails and reservoir.

Two osprey nesting platforms have been installed on the south side of the reservoir as part of an Eagle Scout project.  Hopefully they will make a home there for years to come!
