The Friends of Larimer County Parks and Open Lands is a citizen's 501(c)(3) non-profit organization for protecting and improving the relevance of public lands in our lives, in our community, and for future generations. photo of boy fishing

It is up to us to:

  • take care of lands entrusted to us
  • preserve, protect, and enjoy our parklands, wildlife, trails, reservoirs, and open space
  • assist Parks and Open Lands staff to provide a safe and enjoyable recreational environment
  • get involved in our communities by supporting a worthy cause

Past Projects

  • 2009 projects will involve Hermit Park cabin improvements
  • 2005 through 2008, annual Fossil Creek Birding Fair
  • 2008 Hermit Park: volunteer work on picnic tables and trails, and grant management providing naturalist guide books and gear
  • Fundraising for the purchase of Hermit Park
  • 2005, 2006, & 2007 Fossil Creek Birding Fair - managed a booth serving free coffee & cookies and informing the public about our group
  • 2005 & 2006 Father's Day Weekend Boat Tour
  • 2005, 2006, & 2007 Whole Foods CommUnity Day
  • 2005 Festival of Giving at Foothills Mall - managed a booth to help with the festival registration
  • Soderberg Trail Open Space - purchased 3 picnic tables for the trailhead
  • Fossil Creek Open Space - purchased binoculars, scopes, two-way radios and birding guide books to be used by the public
