Park Situation

No hunting allowed at any time.

The swim beach is closed for the season.

Terrain is rocky.  Trails may be muddy--please hike with caution.

Fishing Conditions

Kokanee snagging season is from October 1-December 31, sunrise to sunset, at Dam 1 only.  No salmon have been seen spawning yet this year. 

 

Walleye fishing has begun to slow down.  The daily limit is one walleye, and please remember the size restriction--between 16 and 20 inches only.  Larger or smaller fish must be returned to the water immediately.

Water Level & Boat Ramps

There is a new entrance for the north boat ramp; all boaters must enter and exit from the road across from Eagle Campground, about 500 feet west of the old entrance.  The south ramp is now closed for the season, but the north ramps are both still open.

Maximum Elevation - 5,758 ft.
Current Elevation - 5,703 ft.
Temperature - 66 degrees


Carter Lake Marina

The new marina building is complete and still open on the weekends--stop by to check out the new facilities before they close for the season! 


Camping

The drinking water at South Shore will be turned off this week.  Frost-free faucets are located at Eagle and Big Thompson campgrounds.  The drinking water faucet at the dump station is currently out of service due to recent damage.  Carter Knolls campground is closed for the season--see you next year!


Wildlife

Elk have been spotted returning from their summer sojourns in the mountains.
