30-Day Refund Policy
It is the policy of the Larimer County Clerk and Recorder's office to issue a refund within 30 days of payment of a transaction upon request. This refund will include fees remitted by the customer for the current year's registration. Any prior fees (i.e., Prior Ownership Tax) paid to bring the vehicle record into currency will not be refunded. Plates and registration must be returned to the office to receive the refund. A Claim for Refund must be completed for any refund request and submitted with the supporting documents to be approved.

Credit of fees may be applied to another vehicle if the request for refund is over 30 days. Credit may be applied if the registration was in effect at the time of the sale of the vehicle. Full credit may not be rewarded if credit is transferred to a newly purchased vehicle that is an older model.
