At approximately 9:57 a.m. today, Larimer County Sheriff's Office deputies were advised of a domestic dispute in the 12400-block of North County Road 17. The female party in that dispute advised that her boyfriend had left the home and was believed to be driving under the influence of drugs.

At approximately 11:59 deputies determined that his vehicle was in the area of West County Road 78 and North County Road 17. Upon deputies trying to contact the vehicle, the 33-year-old male driver fled from the deputies leading them on a traffic pursuit which ended near County Road 15 and West County Road 84 when deputies utilized a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver to stop the vehicle.

The male then fled on foot and was chased by deputies who followed the Fort Collins man to an area near North County Road 15 and West County Road 82. At approximately 12:26 the man began climbing a 100-foot power pole located in the area. Deputies immediately contacted the power authorities who shut down the power to that area and rerouted power to prevent any power outages.

Negotiators with the Larimer County Sheriff's Office were finally able to convince the man to come down at approximately 3:00 p.m. this afternoon. He was immediately transferred to the hospital for evaluation where he was admitted. It is not believed that he suffered any injuries. His condition is unknown.

A Larimer County Sheriff's Office deputy suffered minor injuries during the incident. He was treated and released.

The man's identity is being withheld at this time pending charges being filed. No further information will be released at this time.
