Incarceration Rates determine how many people are in jail per 100,000 population. As shown in the graph below, the national average is 256 people incarcerated per 100,000 population. The average in Colorado is r82 people incarcerated per 100,000 population and in Larimer County there are 176 people incarcerated per 100,000 population. What these numbers infer is that the alternatives to incarceration in Larimer County are working to defer a large number of criminals from being locked up in jail. However, it also infers the Larimer County Detention Center does not have enough beds for the criminals of Larimer County.
