Serves in a
lead/supervisory capacity in a Community Corrections Program within the Health
and Human Services Division for mentally ill offenders within the Mental Health
Intervention Pretrial Services and Alternatives to Incarceration for
Individuals with Mental Health Needs (MHIPS/AIIM) programs. Provides case
management and supervision of court orders, individual and group intervention,
life skills training, financial planning and management, and crisis
intervention.
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS: The

Provide day-to-day
management and coordination of program site and staff.
·
Provide direct,
first-level supervision and leadership for staff and activities within the
MHIPS/AIIM program which may include assigning and reviewing work, coordinating
staff training, participating in the interview and selection process of clients
and staff, making recommendations impacting pay, status and disciplinary
action, evaluating performance independently or in conjunction with a
higher-level supervisor, scheduling and approving time off in conjunction with
higher level supervisor.

Provide direct
case management and therapy for clients assigned to caseload.
·
Provide
supervision of Correctional Case Specialists within the Community Corrections
MHIPS/AIIM program and ensure that all collateral agency contacts and program
reports are complete.
·
Provide
supervision in conjunction with collateral agency staff for staff that are paid
for by the program but employed by other agencies.
·
Clinical and
administrative supervision to a team of clinicians and correctional staff who
provide therapy, case management, and supervision services to clients with
co-occurring substance dependence and mental illness.
·
Monitor budget and
financial accounting.
·
Act as a resource
or expert in program area, providing technical guidance to less experienced
staff.
·
Develop professional
contacts with other County departments, staff, and outside collateral agencies,
and coordinate appropriate meetings as needed.
·
Review case files
for compliance with Division of Criminal Justice and Colorado Probation
standards.
·
Assist in the writing
grants proposals and reports.
·
Consult with
assigned staff in strategies for difficult or complex cases.
·
Attend staff and
other department meetings; participate in internal and external committees; and
attend and provide in-service training.
·
Interpret and
apply program, departmental, and County policies and procedures.
·
Prepare
appropriate program and financial reports including billing forms.
·
Develop and
present accurate information and documentation to the Community Corrections
Director, Community Corrections Assistant Director, Courts, Probation
Department, collateral agencies, Division of Criminal Justice, and the Advisory
Board.
·
Coordinate program
services with Grant partners, other County departments, community groups, and
external agencies.
·
Participate in the
interview process and make hiring recommendations.
·
Provide case
management services and monitoring of compliance for individuals in the
AIIM/MHIPS program.
·
Conduct case
management activities for assigned clients including, but not limited to,
compliance with sentence given by the courts, administering and scoring client
assessments and making appropriate treatment referrals, the completion of
client budgets and monitoring of finances, the completion of monthly program
reports, termination reports, and the development and review of supervision
plans.
·
Monitor all terms
and conditions of probation and/or bond conditions.
·
Collect urinalysis
samples, complete appropriate paperwork, and submit samples for drug testing;
administer alcohol tests.
·
Maintain current,
accurate, chronological case notes, incident reports, and affidavits; maintain
statistical data of service delivery, prepare monthly reports and other
required documentation.
·
Provide backup for
team staff functions.
·
Assist in programs
development and direction with Assistant Director.
·
Lead and
participate in selections meetings.
·
Provide court
reports and oral testimony as required.
·
Conduct
orientation to new clients to explain program requirements and expectations.
·
Facilitate
in-house groups as appropriate and needed.
·
Prepare and submit
selections decisions memos to the courts and interested parties.
·
Schedule staff to
provide coverage for the Drop-in-Center site as needed and required.
·
Monitor
Drop-in-Center supplies and request items as needed.

EXPERIENCE
AND TRAINING: Any
combination of Experience, Education, and/or Licenses/Certifications that would
likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Experience:
·
Two years of
experience working with co-occurring mental health substance abuse population
and two years experience in correctional case management.
·
Supervisory
experience.
Training:
·
Masters Degree
from an accredited college or university in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work,
Criminal Justice, or a closely related field.
Licenses/Certifications:
·
Possession of, or
ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Driver’s License.
·
License or certification
in a recognized mental health field (e.g., LPC, LMFT, LCSW, or Psychologist)
preferred.
·
Certified
Addictions Counselor preferred. Maintain continuing education hours annually
or as required.
·
Possession of or
ability to obtain a First Aid, AED, and CPR certifications.
