ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS: The following
statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the job and do not

Explain 4-H Youth
Development horse project and activities to interested youth and adults.
·
Register youth and
adults into 4-H horse program activities; process appropriate documents and
forms.
·
Plan, implement,
and evaluate 4-H horse program activities, contests, clinics, events and the
4-H horse project components of the Larimer County Fair.
·
Monitor 4-H member
and leader compliance with the 4-H program policies and procedures.
·
Respond to 4-H
leader and member requests for information; refer to appropriate Extension
staff, county departments/programs, community groups, or outside entities.
·
Coordinate 4-H
horse program activities with The Ranch and other entities.
·
Prepare
communications about the 4-H horse program; contribute pertinent articles to
the county 4-H newsletter and website.
·
Maintain
statistical records and reports related to the 4-H horse program.
·
Work as a team
with Extension 4-H Agents.
·
Use communication
and problem solving skills to navigate situations in the 4-H horse project.
·
Perform
administrative work in support of the 4-H horse program.
·
Attend meetings,
conferences, and workshops as assigned.
OTHER DUTIES:
·
Perform other
duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
KNOWLEDGE
OF:
·
Operation of
standard office equipment including computers, copiers, and audiovisual
equipment.
·
Routine software
and business applications including, but not limited to, word processing,
spreadsheets, presentation software, and databases.
·

Colorado State University Extension and its work in Larimer County, Colorado.

management, teamwork, time management, and problem solving skills.

4-H Youth

Record keeping and
reporting procedures.

community resources pertinent to the 4-H programs.

Establish and
maintain effective working relationships with Extension Agents and support
staff, other county employees, representatives of other agencies and
organizations, 4-H families, and other members of the community.

Efficiently and
effectively organize and implement 4-H horse program activities and events.
·
Communicate
clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
·
Provide
professional customer service to 4-H members and leaders and others in the
public.
·
Guide 4-H
participants according to established program guidelines.
·
Manage volunteers
involved in the 4-H horse program.
·
Relate to youth in
order to promote leadership, skill development, and responsibility .
·
Refer 4-H
participants to Extension staff, other departments or agencies as appropriate.
EXPERIENCE
AND EDUCATION: Any combination of
Experience, Education, and/or Licenses/Certifications that would likely provide
the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Experience:
·
Two years of
experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties
and responsibilities
Education:
·
High school
diploma or GED required. Additional coursework or training in Extension
education, volunteer management, equine sciences, or related field preferred.
