Work week is every Tuesday through
Saturday, 40 hours per week.
Provides direction to the public
using the County Landfill facilities. Maintains the landfill as
necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
·
Direct traffic on site.
·
Screen waste to remove hazardous
materials from landfill.
·
Operate pickup trucks; ability to
learn and operate tractors, mowers, vacuum trailer, and vacuum litter.
·
Hand pick litter.
·
General maintenance of landfill
shop, fences, and buildings.
OTHER DUTIES:
·
Perform other duties as appropriate
or necessary for performance of the job.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
·
Safe working procedures.
·
Light equipment operation.
·
Department and County rules,
regulations, policies, procedures, and standard operation procedures.
Ability To:
·
Establish and maintain effective
working relationships with other County employees, representatives of other
agencies and organizations, and members of the community.
·
Provide professional customer
service to clients and public.
·
Follow written and verbal instructions.
·
Accomplish
the assigned workload in a timely manner and meet established performance
standards and objectives.
·
Effectively respond to conflict
situations and people in conflict.
·
Understand and carry out oral and
written directions.
·
Read labels on waste materials.
·
Perform heavy labor in a variety
of weather conditions.
·
Learn to operate light equipment.
·
Perform duties independently
without close supervision.
Experience
and Training: Any combination of experience and training that would
likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Experience:
·
One year of experience in a
directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and
responsibilities.
·
One year experience in outdoor
labor is desirable
·
One year customer service working
with the public is desirable.
Training:
·
High School Diploma or GED
required.
·
Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills
preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
·
Possession of, or ability to
obtain, a valid Colorado Driver’s License.
