AN OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT IS CONTINGENT
UPON THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A DRUG SCREENING TEST. A SUCCESSFUL
COMPLETION OF THE DRUG SCREENING IS DEFINED AS OBTAINING A NEGATIVE DRUG
SCREENING RESULT.

This
position serves a variety of transportation purposes. Applicants selected for
this position may be required to provide transportation services to both
juvenile and adult offenders, as well as Mental Health and Larimer Lift
clients. Transports and supervises juvenile/adult offenders to and from the
courts, lock-up facilities, the Hub and other designated areas. Operates
transit vehicles to transport passengers of all abilities for Para transit bus
service according to specific time schedules for north Larimer County areas; assists
passengers as needed per program guidelines. This is a Safety Sensitive
position and is regulated under the Federal Transit Administration and Federal
Motor Carrier regulations including pre-employment drug screening, random drug
and alcohol screens, and yearly education.
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS:
Promote
a professional and positive image of Larimer County
while performing assigned duties.

Practice
safety in all work activities.
·
Operate busses
and other vehicles in accordance with Federal Transit Administration and
Colorado Law in a wide variety of traffic, road,
and weather conditions.
·
Operate a
variety of wheelchair lifts, securing devices, and other safety-related equipment.
·
Make quick and
safe decisions based on traffic and unexpected obstacles; practice defensive
driving.
·
Handle emergency
and occasionally stressful situations appropriately.
·
Perform required
vehicle inspections, complete trip logs as necessary, and report necessary
maintenance or malfunctions to appropriate staff.
·
Keep all
required licenses and certifications current and in possession while driving.
Demonstrate
high level of skill in job performance.
·
Perform
administrative and record keeping duties in support of both programs including
documentation of juvenile behavior, activities and processing of various
billing and/or program statistical data related to agency documents, scheduling
and manifest logs, and other required documentation.
·
Possess working
knowledge of basic math skills.
·
Attend meetings
and ongoing training as needed.
·
Possess working
knowledge of city streets and surrounding areas.
·
Utilize good
time management skills and ability to stay on schedule.
·
Follow all
operational policies and procedures.
Transportation
of juvenile offenders will include the following:
·
In accordance with
the parameters of the program, supervision in the safe transports of juveniles
between detention facilities, courts, and other designations.
·
Monitor adults
and juveniles in the community.
·
Work with
courts, probation, and other law enforcement agencies regarding the
transportation of juvenile offenders.
·
Coordinate
transport scheduling with law enforcement and other agencies.
·
Provide standby
security services at the Hub, Court, medical, and other facilities.
·
Collect
urinalysis samples, complete appropriate paperwork, and submit samples for drug
testing; administer alcohol tests.
OTHER
DUTIES:
·
Provide
coverage for Larimer County Community Corrections Department’s Day Reporting Center, Pre-Trial,
Transportation/Larimer
Lift, and Residential programs (a 24-hour facility)
on an on-call basis.
·
Conduct
search activities consistent with department policy including random client
body searches, room and facility searches, building and ground security checks,
supervision and collection of urine specimens and breathalyzers, completion of
residential count sheets, and the monitoring and verification of client
activities at home, at work, and in the community.
·
Supervise
clients during assigned shifts including client sign-out and sign-in, compliance
with house rules, completion of residential daily chores, and client location
monitoring.
EXPERIENCE
AND EDUCATION: Any combination of experience and
education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is
qualifying.
Education:
·
High School
Diploma or GED required.
Experience:
·
Three to five
years driving experience.
·
Must be at least
21 years of age and have a good driving record.
Licenses/Certifications:
·
Possession of,
and ability to maintain, a valid Colorado Driver's License.
·
Must be able to
obtain PPCT certification (physical defensive tactics/restraint/use of force
training) within 6 months of hire.
·
Possession of, or
ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certifications by date of hire.
·
Maintain
continuing education hours annually or as required.
·
Defensive
driving training/certification as required.
PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS:
·
Regularly
required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and
arms; talk and hear.
·
Occasionally
required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
·
Occasionally
lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
·
Ability to
perform defensive tactics requiring flexibility and mobility.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
·
Regularly
exposed to vibration.
·
Frequently
exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or
caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions.
·
Occasionally
exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
·
Loud noise level
in the work environment.
