Larimer County's Foster Care Training Program, PRIDE, stands for Parent's Resource for Information, Development, and Education. Training is held year round. We take a break from training from Thanksgiving to New Year's unless demand for a class is clearly demonstrated. The Program is a resource - something that helps you and our agency. It provides the information you need, and we need, to make an informed decision: whether foster care and/or adoption is right for you, and whether you are a good fit for our program. It will also help you develop the special knowledge and skills important for fostering or adopting the children we serve, and will educate you about how to be the best foster or foster/adopt parent you can be.
PRIDE consists of 30 hours (10 sessions of 3 hours each) of pre-service training. The classes are taught by the Foster Care Trainers and include guest participants who talk about their experiences as well. We meet on a weekday evening from 6pm-9pm and provide participants with an evening meal. We know that 30 hours is a big commitment, but so is the commitment to become a foster or foster/adopt parent!
Prospective foster or foster/adopt families register for PRIDE training after they have completed the orientation phase and the first family consultation phase of our process. Please contact the Foster Care Recruitment Coordinator at 970/498-6588 for more information.
