Elections

How to make sure that your vote counts!

You must be registered to vote!

  • Registration closes twenty nine (29) days prior to each election.
  • To register, you must be United States citizen, Colorado resident, and at least 18 years of age by the next election.
  • Download a Vote Registration Application and mail to P.O. Box 1547 Fort Collins, CO 80522 or drop it off at 200 West Oak Street, Fort Collins at the Citizens Information Center on the 1st floor.

At the Vote Centers

  • Voting on Election Day has never been easier now that Larimer County uses Vote Centers instead of Precinct Polling Places. Vote Centers allow for voters to not be restricted to one voting location on Election Day, but rather choose the location that is the most convenient to them.
  • Vote Centers are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the busiest times being first thing in the morning and after 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
  • Colorado law requires that all voters show a valid ID before voting. Don't forget your ID!!
  • Larimer County is using paper ballots for the 2004 General Election.

Vote at an Early Voting Branch Office

  • Early Voting is an alternative to voting before Election Day. Ten (10) days before a Primary Election and fifteen (15) days before a General Election, Larimer County Elections Office opens additional branch offices for voting.
  • Early Voting Branch Offices are convenient for voters who need change their address, replace spoiled mail-in ballots, drop off a mail-in ballot, or just want to avoid long lines on Election Day.
  • When going to an Early Voting Branch Office, make sure to take a valid ID.

Vote by an Mail-in Ballot

  • Mail-in Voting is when you request a ballot to be mailed to your home instead of voting on Election Day. Download an Mail-in Ballot Application and mail to P.O. Box 1547 Fort Collins, CO 80522 or drop it off at 200 West Oak Street, Fort Collins at the Citizens Information Center on the 1st floor.
  • All applications for mail-in ballots must be received by the Elections Office one week before each election.
  • Mail-in ballots are mailed to voters who have applied, approximately one month prior to each election.
  • When voting by mail-in, you (registered voter) must sign the outside of the ballot envelope. If you forget to sign the envelope, your vote cannot be counted.
  • The signature on the outside of the mail-in ballot envelope must match the name on the mailing label. If it does not match, your vote cannot be counted.
  • If you mail your mail-in ballot, it must be received at the Election Office by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.
  • You may also hand deliver your ballot to the Courthouse Building at 200 West Oak Fort Collins at the Citizen Information Center on the 1st floor. Ballot may also be delivered to Early Voting Branch Offices once they open.
  • If on Election Day, you have not mailed your mail-in ballot, you may bring your mail-in ballot to one of the 5 Early Voting Branch Offices. Vote Centers will not collect mail-in ballots under any circumstances.
  • Voted ballots returned by the mail or in person after Election Day cannot be counted.
  • If you apply for a mail-in ballot, you can not vote by any other means including Early Voting and voting at a Vote Center.
