Vote Centers at the Colorado Secretary of State Certification Conference

Following the success of the Larimer County Vote Center Conference, the Elections Department was invited to make a presentation on Vote Centers at the Colorado Secretary of State Election Official Training Conference. The conference was held from April 19 to April 21, 2005 in Colorado Springs.

The Larimer County Elections Department spent several afternoons with Secretary of State Staff members to design an informative and hands-on training session for the conference. The following is a list of presentations and activities conducted.

  • "Site Selection": Along with the presentation, conference attendees used transparent overlays and dry erase markers to determine ideal Vote Center locations in their home counties. Attendees also designed Vote Center layouts to determine the most efficient way to move voters through a Vote Center on Election Day.
  • "T-101": This presentation focused on the technological successes of Vote Centers.
  • "Flexibility": Conference attendees were given a presentation on ballot ordering and equipment deployment.
  • "Election Judges": Along with a presentation, attendees spent a great deal of time brainstorming and sharing ideas for how to effectively train election judges.

All presentations were given by Jan Kuhnen, Chief Deputy Clerk and Recorder and Director of Elections. Several staff members from the Larimer County Elections Department were in attendance to assist with the presentation's hands-on activities.
