How to Become an Election Judge
Would you like to serve as an Election Judge (poll worker). To qualify, you must be a registered voter in Larimer County. You must also work at your assigned polling place between 6:15 a.m. and approximately 8:00 p.m. and meet several benchmarks as set forth by state statute and the demands of the job. In addition, you must attend a training class prior to the election and sign an Oath of Judges Form. We pay you $20.00 for attending the training class and a minimum of $90.00 for working election day.

Election Judge Benchmarks
To facilitate the Election process, certain benchmarks have been set for Larimer County election judges in addition to the requirements listed under Colorado Revised Statutes 1-6-101. Please consider the following before submitting your name for consideration as an election judge in Larimer County.
- Must be a registered elector in Larimer County (CRS 1-6-101(2) (a)).
- Must be physically and mentally able to perform and complete the assigned tasks (CRS 1-6-101(2) (b)). Some of the following abilities and tasks may be required:
- be able to lift 25-50 pounds
- be able to "work" in a busy and stressful environment for 14+ consecutive hours
- be able to understand and read English at an 8th grade level
- be in good physical condition that allows sitting and/or standing for long periods of time
- be able to hear ballots being dropped into the AccuVote
- be able to accurately distribute multiple ballot styles in a timely fashion
- have basic knowledge of computers and be able to learn to use the computerized poll book (This includes accurately searching, retrieving and inputting data.)
- Additional technological requirements:
- ability to understand and willingness to use modem/fax lines for electronic transmission of voter results
- ability to understand instruction of AccuVote equipment including cleaning scanner head, functions of memory card and ballot box
- ability to read the LDC display screen on the AccuVote
- Must attend a class of instruction concerning the tasks of an election judge prior to working (CRS 1-6-101(2) (c)).
- Have never have been convicted of any election offense or fraud (CRS 1-6-101(2) (d)).
- Are neither a candidate on the ballot nor a member of immediate family of the candidate (CRS 1-6-101(2) (e)).
- Must be able to provide your own transportation to the school of instruction, polling place, and counting center as required.
