What these data tell us:

The Health District Community Survey is distributed every three years by the Health District of Northern Larimer County.

Survey question: In the past 12 months, have you voted in an election?

Survey responses indicated there were significant relationships among age groups, educational attainment, or income and higher percentages of voters in each group - the older, more educated, or higher income a respondent was, the more likely he or she would have voted within 12 months prior to the survey.

According to the United States Census, elections in Colorado from 1994 to 2002 had similar voter turnouts between males and females. However, a greater proportion of the female Voting Age Population (VAP) was registered than the male VAP (see data table). In the 2002 general election, both the percentages of the VAP who registered and those registered who voted increased with age (see data table). Because the Colorado and Larimer County numbers come from different datasets and are collected differently, the results are not comparable.
