The Larimer County Motor Vehicle Department is responsible for vehicle registration, titling and issuing license plates. The Office of the Clerk maintains records concerning the number of vehicles registered yearly in the county.

What the above data tell us:
Vehicle registrations increased 18.2% over the last 10 years in both Fort Collins and Loveland, compared to 17.0% for all of Larimer County. The total county population 16 years and over increased 17.8% during this same time period.Overall, the number of registered vehicles declined slightly between 2005 and 2006. Effective January 1, 2007, there was a change in emissions law which may have contributed to the decline. Owners of vehicles unable to pass emissions in 2006 may have waited until 2007 to register.
