What these data tell us:

With the exception of White (not Hispanic), the percentages of students from each racial/ethnic group were higher than those of teachers in the 2005-06 school year. Black students were the most over-represented (107 students to 1 teacher) when comparing the number of students to teachers in Larimer County school districts. It should be noted that Black students represented 1.5% of student enrollment, while Black teachers represented only 0.2% of all teachers in Larimer County (644 students to 6 teachers). Hispanic students were the next most over-represented (68:1) followed by Asian or Pacific Islander (54:1) and American Indian (44:1).

What these data tell us:

In the 2005-06 school year, the State averages for minority teachers were higher than Larimer County School District averages, with the exception of American Indian. Both American Indian and Asian or Pacific Islander percentages were similar to Colorado proportions. White (not Hispanic) was by far the predominant racial/ethnic group among teachers in Colorado and Larimer County.

What these data tell us:

In 2005-06, Larimer County teachers were predominately White (not Hispanic) and Female. The only teacher minority population with significant representation was Hispanic. In general, the female to male educator ratio was approximately three female teachers to one male.

Some local teacher ethnicities reflected the overall proportions found in the general population of Larimer County. For example, Asian teachers represented approximately 0.8% of the teachers in Larimer County, comparable to this group's 1.7% representation in the general population.
