What the above data tell us:

In 2010, Estes Park and Fort Collins had the highest ratios of law enforcement officers per 10 square miles of jurisdiction. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office ratio appears artificially low because the total County square mileage was used in calculating the ratio even though the Sheriff's Office only has primary jurisdiction in the unincorporated areas of the County.

What the above data tell us:

In 2010, Estes Park had the highest ratio of law enforcement officers to residents (3.1 per 1,000 population). The Larimer County Sheriff's Office ratio appears artificially low because the total county population was used in calculating the ratio even though the Sheriff's Office has primary jurisdiction in the unincorporated areas of the County. The remaining County law enforcement agencies had comparable officer/resident ratios, averaging about 1.43 law enforcement officers per 1,000 residents.
