What the above data tell us:
In 2010, Estes Park and Fort Collins had the highest ratios of law enforcement officers per 10 square miles of jurisdiction. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office ratio appears artificially low because the total County square mileage was used in calculating the ratio even though the Sheriff's Office only has primary jurisdiction in the unincorporated areas of the County.What this chart shows: Ratio of Law Enforcement Officers* per 1,000 Residents in Larimer County, 2010

In 2010, Estes Park had the highest ratio of law enforcement officers to residents (3.1 per 1,000 population). The Larimer County Sheriff's Office ratio appears artificially low because the total county population was used in calculating the ratio even though the Sheriff's Office has primary jurisdiction in the unincorporated areas of the County. What the above data tell us:
From 2001 to 2010, the ratio of police officers to population has remained relatively steady. During this same period, Loveland's ratio of police officers to population has been slightly higher than in Fort Collins.
