According to the United States Census Bureau, [pdf] 'a household is linguistically isolated if all adults speak a language other than English and none speaks English 'very well.' For this purpose, adults are defined as those 14 years of age or older.

What the above data tell us:
A higher percentage of the population is living in linguistically-isolated households in the last half of the decade compared to the beginning of the decade. This holds true for the country, as well as Colorado and Larimer County.Slightly less than 2% of the population in Larimer over the age of 5 lives in a linguistically-isolated household. The overwhelmingly majority, 75.8%, are in Spanish-speaking households.
