What this chart shows: Age Groups by Gender, Larimer County - Census 2000
Data Source: United States Census, American FactFinder
What these data tell us:
The gender gap (in terms of age) was almost non-existent for most of the age categories in Larimer County during the 2000 census. Two age groups, 20-24 and 25-29 years, recorded more males than females with a noticeable percentage difference of 9% and 15% respectively. Further analysis revealed this variance was found only in Fort Collins, indicating that the gender difference might be influenced by the presence of Colorado State University. Comparisons with other Colorado counties with and without universities corroborated this observation.
