Data Source: United States Census, Profile of General Demographic Characteristics: Colorado, 2000
What these data tell us:
Larimer County's 1% difference between the number of males and females in 1990 was all but erased according to the 2000 Census. The county was split evenly between the sexes with only 186 more women than men in 2000, making the official ratio 50:50.Colorado experienced a larger gender shift than the nation and Larimer County. Females outnumbered males in Colorado by approximately 30,000 in 1990, and males outnumbered females by about the same amount in 2000. While the nation had a larger number of women than men in both 1990 and 2000, the local, state, and national figures experienced similar trends in both genders: the percentage of females decreased while the percentage of males increased.
