Larimer County School Districts - Public Schools
A public school is an elementary or secondary school supported by public funds which provides free education for children of a community or district. Pre-kindergarten (PK) is not a mandated educational program in Colorado, nor is it fully funded by the state. However, PK programs are funded in part through the Colorado Preschool Program, Early Childhood Special Education and limited Title 1 funds. The school districts may charge a fee for full-time kindergarten classes, as the state only pays for half-time instruction.

The 7.4% decrease in Park District enrollment from 2003-04 to 2004-05 was an actual loss of 101 students. This decrease in public school enrollment was reported to be the result of a local church opening a kindergarten program as well as some families leaving the area for employment reasons.
