What these data tell us: Work Release participants are sentenced to a specific amount of time in the program. For many years there has been a waiting list with the number of people on the list growing each year. As of January 2002, there are 54 people on a waiting list. They will wait 3-4 months to participate in this program.

What these data tell us: Home Detention is not as restricted in the number of people it can accommodate, compared to the other alternative sentencing programs. These numbers are a reflection of judges' orders and the Sheriff's department's decisions about the appropriateness of home detention for inmates in their care.
