The Larimer County Alternative Sentencing Department (formerly the Alternative Sentencing Unit) finds alternatives to jail time for persons convicted of nonviolent crimes. The following programs are examples of alternative sentencing in Larimer County:
- Work Release program: participants live in the work release facility and spend the day working or going to school;
- Workender program: supervised groups perform large projects for non-profit organizations;
- Home Detention program: participants are monitored via an electronic ankle bracelet so that they remain at home or in other designated locations; and
- Community Service program: offenders work with one of several non-profit agencies in Larimer County instead of serving time in the Larimer County Jail.
