What these data tell us:
When looking at age groups categorized by race and ethnicity from the United States Census, Asian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic, and multi-racial individuals have proportionately higher numbers of children, whereas the White (non-Hispanics) category has a slightly higher proportion of adults. Caution must be used when interpreting these data because the numbers of citizens in some Larimer County communities/ethnic groups are very small. Please refer to the tables below for those numbers.Because demographic data can be displayed in numerous ways, we are able to compare populations in a diverse manner. According to the Colorado Division of Local Affairs, Larimer County's age distribution remained similar from 1996 to 2006. We examined the percentage of each age for the total population for each year. There was over 100% increase in the ages of 54 and 56. As a whole, the ages of 24-27 saw slight decreases in percentages as did 37-40 year olds. (See data table.)
Also according to the United States Census, Larimer County's mountain communities of Estes Park and Red Feather Lakes had the largest proportion of seniors, while the smaller communities of Wellington and Timnath had the highest percentage of children in 2000.
