Big Thompson Properties

Larimer County acquired approximately 153 parcels of land in the Big Thompson Canyon after the flood of 1976. The parcels range in size from less than a tenth of an acre to eight acres. The County has been considering the disposition of approximately 60 of these parcels. All potential transfers will be reviewed by the Parks Advisory Board. Parcel Transfer Updates

As of October 29, 2008, Larimer County has sold 5 parcels in the Cotner Subdivision (Area 4) near Sylvan Dale. Area 4 is now complete and no more properties are available. The County has sold 1 parcel in the Waltonia area.

As of March 15, 2008, the Parks Advisory Board officially designated 7 areas as public use areas with fishing access, as follows.

Currently, the County is in the process of reviewing 15 parcels near Drake within the Hayden Subdivision (Area 12C). After each area is complete, a decision will be made for the next area to be considered for transfer.
