Objective: DNR partner with City of Greeley for grant writing assistance
Situation: Greeley is completing plans to route a water pipeline from Bellvue to Greeley. A portion of
this pipeline runs through sensitive historic and riparian areas in LaPorte.
Proposal: Greeley officials are very receptive to partnering with Larimer County in seeking alternate methods of funding to allow
routing of the new pipeline around sensitive areas. I propose that Larimer County DNR assist the
city of Greeley in the grant writing search for these funds.
Advantages: Protection of sensitive historic and
riparian areas along the 1881 Greeley, Salt Lake and Pacific Railroad (Stout Branch) line next to the Poudre River in LaPorte.
Disadvantages: Use of county staff time.
Requested action: I request that the BOCC approve the
use of county resources for this objective.
Potentially Affected Interest: Residents of affected
areas, historical and environmental advocates, City of Greeley.
Level of Public Interest and Participations: Low
Audio/Visual/Computer Needs: None
