Objective: Continuation of Appropriation of Carryover
funds from 2007
Situation: After the final closeout of each year,
there is a certain amount of funds that were unexpended in the previous year
that are available for use in providing county services.
Some of these funds are for projects that were
previously approved, but were not completed in 2007. Others are funds that are legally or
otherwise dedicated to a specific use and cannot be redistributed to another
area. All of these funds are automatically
carried over as appropriate.
Each spring we
re-examine budget requests that were a) not able to funded at the time the
budget was adopted b)New
requests from county departments. These
are reviewed and presented to the
Proposal: For the Board to review the requested
carryover uses and to appropriate funds for those the Board decides to fund.
Advantages: * can address many service needs of the
citizens
* provide good stewardship of county resources
Disadvantages: * funds allocated are not available for
other uses
* not all requests can be
approved.
Requested action: That the board
approve the appropriation of 2007 carryover funds as agreed to on this
date.
