Highlights:
- The number of reports to Adult Protective Services (APS) increased by approximately 23% between 2003 and 2012. The majority of Adult Protective Services reports involve self-neglect. (Adult Abuse)
- The rate of total adult arrests in Larimer County decreased 20.5% from 56.7 per 1,000 adults in 2002 to 45.0 per 1,000 adults in 2011. (Adult Arrests)
- There were 50.9 (per 1,000 adult population) charges filed in District Court for Larimer County in fiscal year 2012. In addition, there were 109.8 (per 1,000 adult population) charges filed in County Court for the same time period. (Charges Filed - Adults)
- From 2007 to 2011, Larimer County law enforcement reports/arrests for domestic violence per 1,000 adults decreased 29%, peaking in 2007 at 5.7 reports/arrests per 1,000 adults. (Domestic Violence)
- In 2012, 5,861 offenders participated in one of the four Alternative Sentencing Department programs provided by the Sheriff's Department. Each of these programs - Workenders, Work Release, Community Service, and Home Detention - provides diversion from more costly jail stays. (Alternative Sentencing Department)
- The average monthly inmate population at the Larimer County Jail in 2012 was within 5.5% of capacity each month. In 2012, inmates between 26 and 40 made up 42.3% of the total jail population. The inmate population was identified as 23.5% Hispanic, although Hispanics represented 8.6% of the 2010 adult population in Larimer County. (Jail Population & Capacity)
- Between fiscal years 2003 and 2012, adult probation rates ranged from 10.5 to 22.1 per 1,000 adult population The large increase, beginning in FY 2008, was primarily due to an influx of DUI/DAWI probationers assigned to private probation. (Adult Probation)
Child/Youth highlights:
- There were 50.7 (per 1,000 juvenile population) charges filed in District Court for Larimer County in fiscal year 2012. The majority of these charges (56.0%) were related to delinquency problems. (Charges Filed - Juveniles)
- There was a 10.0% increase in the number of substantiated child abuse reports in 2012 from the previous year. (Child Abuse)
- The Larimer County juvenile arrest rate decreased 23.2% between 2002 and 2011. Alcohol and drug offenses comprise nearly one-third of all yearly arrests. (Juvenile Arrests)
- Between fiscal years 2003 and 2012, juvenile probation rates ranged from 7.4 to 18.8 per 1,000 juvenile population. Much of the fluctuation was due to changes in business practices, particularly those dealing with low-level offenders. (Juvenile Probation)
